Connect Groups

Connecting with Christ through The Word.

Sunday Mornings @ 9:00am

What’s a Connect Group?

A Connect Group is simply a biblical community environment where people can grow together in Christ. We try and accomplish this in four main ways:

  1. …connecting through Worship: helping people celebrate and rejoice answered prayer
  2. …connecting through Bible Study: helping people encounter Christ and His Word
  3. …connecting through Missions: helping people to both become and make disciples
  4. …connecting through Community: helping all people feel welcome and accepted

Our Sunday Morning Connect Groups meet at 9:00am. Most begin with fellowship and announcements, and then follow with a Bible study or applicable life lesson after (lessons are usually published by Lifeway).

At Berea First Baptist, you’ll discover Connect Groups for all ages. If you’re looking for a specific group for someone in your family, and can’t find it, please come to the “Welcome Center” at the front of our facilities, and our volunteers will be happy to show you to the available classes.

Morning Worship

Connecting with Christ through celebration and praise.

Sunday Mornings @ 10:15am

What is Morning Worship?

Every Sunday we gather together as God’s people to remember and celebrate our salvation. We come together to honor God, but also to be shaped by him. Our Sunday gatherings start at 9:00am with Connect Groups that dive deep into God’s Word. Then at 10:15am we gather as a congregation—all ages together—to lift our voices in song and be led by God’s Word in our worship. Our service blends modern music stylings with more traditional elements. Our heart is to cultivate a context as we gather where God’s Word is free to shape our hearts. Most often, we will have a praise band and choir leading our congregation in music, but some weeks we will have a full orchestra as well, and others we may only have a piano or acoustic guitar. The number of instruments and singers on stage is not as important as glorifying God and being shaped by our worship of him.

What is your musical style?

Blended would be the best description, though our Worship Pastor would cringe to hear that said. We draw from contemporary and classic sources for our music. Our congregational singing on Sunday mornings is lead by a praise team made up of several vocalists and a contemporary-style band (with drums, guitars, keys and piano). We love all instruments, so it would not be surprising to find a trumpeter or violinist joining our praise team on Sunday morning as well.

The songs we normally sing draws from contemporary sources (such as the Getty’s, Phil Wickham, Chris Tomlin and others). Our choir draws on a wide variety of musical styles from contemporary, to southern gospel, to more traditional style anthems.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! Our church has a long history, and so we have plenty of congregants who dress up on Sunday morning, but jeans and more informal styles of clothing are welcome. On any given Sunday you’ll see everything from a suit to a hoodie – and all are welcome!

How long are your services?

Our services are roughly 75 minutes long. We aim for finishing around 11:30 am, though sometimes we might go a little over or (on a rare occasion) conclude early.

Do you have a fellowship time?

We do take a few minutes during our service to greet one another. This is because community is one of our core values as a church. Our people love each other – and we’d love to express that love to you as well!
